Shaxi is a Bai town. Little Mandarin here! Above is Christmas Day hiking with guide Sarah in the Shibao mountains full of some beautifully maintained Buddhist temples as well as some very run down ones. Elderly woman pictured with us ikes out a living with husband in the most remote one we visited.People just don’t bother going so far out and up!
Lots of monkeys here. We ran into a very large number of moms and their babies in the woods.The chatter was unbelievable! It wad a bit scary dodging them so as not to get attacked as we passed through narrow ways. They had taken over one temple bathroom that Barry went to visit much to his dismay!
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Eve we joined in with some Bai dancing at a lovely new hotel facility and treated ourselves to some Australian wine.
