We headed out on our ‘G Adventure’ as part of a group of 14 on Jan 21. Jane, Diane Barry and me.
Day 1 Sunday: We drive to Viñales in the Valle de Viñales, known for its beauty of surrounding magotes.
Stocking up on water at beginning of trip; tobacco drying barn; our bus.
First day bike out to ‘prehistoric mural’; Jane on a ‘bike about town’ .
Dinner at our Homestay family (Casa Particular).
Day 2 Monday: We bike to town of La Palma. Then bus/ferry for day at the beach at Cayó Levisa.
Beautiful countryside for cycling.
Another cycling vista; and bathing beauties.
‘Waiting for the bus’; and a visit to a store for those who can afford some extras.
Day 3 Tuesday
We start with a ride to a country ration-outlet ‘store’ where the ration system is explained. All Cubans can get their monthly allotment of rice, beans, etc. at these stores.
We bike to a country elementary school and take in the beautiful landscape.
… and eventually head to the National Che Guevara monument. Monument is on grounds where Ché trained Cuban soldiers for three months in preparation for revolutionary fighting in Bolivia.
Diane with local man whose job is to survey the area from hilltop.
We spent some time dining and admiring the crops and view from an ecological farm.
Later, watching the world go by from our homestay veranda.
Sun sets over Viñales.

Cool, Kerry. You DO get around. Hoping to visit Cuba one day…but it’s a little trickier for somebody from the States. Enjoy. Hola to Barry and Jane.

Hello Kerry,
In case you didn’t get my first response.. love the pictures and wonderful adventures in Cuba.
Kudos for your off the beaten track destinations. Rations reminded Doug and myself of Communist Poland in 1979. Continue having a wonderful time. Bisos Christine and Doug
