Second day we continue north along the coast through barren yet almost mystical land. Winds are constant here.

We pass Puerto Bolívar and many wild bays as we head to our final, most northerly destination: Punto Gallinas (Chicken Point).
Driver, Pollo, joins us at the old lighthouse for sunset. Many a ship wreck off this coast.

God forsaken land. If you see any green at all you will see goats. Another ‘roadblock’.

Before reaching Punto Gallinas we head a bit east and spend some time exploring the marvelous Taroa Dunes:

Don’t drive your vehicle up the dunes or it’ll cost you $50,000 (yes, dollars not pesos).
Punto Gallinas
We made it. Excellent driving – Pollo.
This place has a draw. It’s a stark, raw beauty.

Punta Gallinas and our accommodations. Upgrades are being made.

Water pipe disconnection gets fixed pretty quickly. Friendly parrots and walk to the lighthouse.

Emre and Adriana soak it all in.

At the main building we chow down for bbq sea bass dinner. Some opt to sleep in hammocks (not us) .

Half hour boat trip the final morning cuts driving time and let’s us enjoy a different perspective.

Car troubles were not ours but our partner car’s driver is a bit reckless, Pollo comments several times. Back in Uribia we return soon after to Ríohacha.
It has been fun. Recommend highly.
