We reach the southern tip of Jordan and welcome the relative warmth of an unseasonably cool March.

A pleasant 21celcius some of the group opt for a boat and snorkeling, some a day resort. We three chose to roam the city to see the local people in their home town. Aqaba is very walkable.
We head for the local beach and gardens via the market and then return to the market to do some serious shopping.

We are entertained by women and children returning from a boat ride as the attempt to disembark without getting too wet. It is done in stages: kids and youth off first so boat can be brought in further.

The Aqaba castle dates back to the 16th century and has had various renovations over the centuries. Occupied by the Ottomans until booted out by the Arabs in 1917.

Browsing the small shops we discovered great bakeries, chocolate shops and of particular interest, spice markets. A sheepskin for Diane’s hearth will find its way back to Canada as well. Baa.

It’s clear to see why Jordanians flock to Aqaba for vacations and holidays.

Looks like you are doing some grand adventuring. We’ve got Amiga just about ready to head north in the Sea. By Easter…our goal.
Love, Carol
