Rickety old double decker boat transported us from Mandalay to Bagan along with a couple dozen other tourists. Starting before dawn we cruised along at snails pace for eleven hours. Getting on and off was fun. No piers to assist… but was good way to get to the marvel of Bagan!
First night we eat yummy curries down the street for $8 total. The place puts on marionette shows if there are three tables occupied…we did some on the spot advertizing and were rewarded royally!

11 hours? Charming story about patrons and marionettes.
In Vietnam recommend seeing the water puppets. This dates back several centuries.
