Egypt and Jordan

Overdue trip for three begins. Knowing that we were heading in the direction of Mecca was reassuring.  Thank you AirEgypt.

Is there a speed limit up here?

Cairo at 7a.m. in the morning after 11.5 hour flight was lacking charm, smoggy, chaotic, dirty. The highway out to Gisa is being widened so many parts were literally  slicing through Communist- era style looking apartment buildings.  Thank goodness for our amusing, car-honking Grand Pyramid Hotel driver, Ali Baba.

Sand Storm or pollution:both

Ali stopped mid-way on the busy bridge crossing the Nile to have us get out and take pictures of it. Well, okay.

Road competition en route

Lantern anyone?
Who gets right-of-way??

But when we get to our hotel and head out the  deck/restaurant we are in NC another world:

The Great Pyramid by Pharaoh Hufu (son of king Sniferu)

View from what becomes our hangout spot.
Sphinx in front of the Great Pyramid

Our hotel driver had recommended a local joint for lunch:

traditional vegetarian meal: Kochary
A family affair: Our sweet host

The challenge for the day: stay awake and adapt to local time. Some of us did so better than others. We hung out on the deck top patio while fine sand filled everything out could. Not too wise.

Adriana gets an Egyptian-style scarf tying lesson by staff member. They know how to keep their women bound up:)

Lastly, just after nightfall we watch the light and sound show from our patio.

Finally we can sleep!

      1. Hi there et bonoir
So very happy to have some news from yourselves!
We have been a little “housebound” with this COVID but we’re getting there ..
Lucie’s Mum is not very well, Dementia, and it’s a concerned time for her and her twin sister, plus her younger sister ..
OK, that happens but we want to travel, as Lucie is now retired – YIPEE …..
        So we are reasonably free!!
We need to look at where we want to go??
I love California and Mexico but Lucie doesn’t know this region!
Anyhow, dinner is ready .. OOOppppssss!
Sorry, my darlings, but we’ll keep in touch with you both …
Love and hugs to you both always
