Summer of 23 Stay in Paris

Opportunities come and I like to snatch them up. House and rabbit sit in Paris? Sure.

The house
The rabbits

Exploring the neighbourhood is first up

My local coffee shop
My local Patisserie
My local wine shop
Produce places abound. Interesting the packaging including bamboo

My first day also included a walk in very nearby Parc St Cloud in a bit of a jetlag fog. I stopped to pick dandilions for bunnies (a delicacy for them) on way back leaving behind my waterbottle. There it was the next day.

Walked hour + , across and down through Parc St Cloud to where I have decided to watch the Tour de France race, its final stretch into Paris: town of Mauden, just outside Isle de la Cité on Rive Gauche

Past Centre International D’Étude Pédagogique
Walk through Parc St Cloud to town of Mouden to see La Tour de France head into Paris

The race caravan has started passing by my viewing choice when I arrive. … mostly advertisers throwing samples to the ‘crowd’, team officials and the like:

Then the wait for the actual riders begins.

One hundred seventy-six riders started the race in Bilboa, Spain on July 1st. Today, the final day, there are 150 that reach Paris.

Sitting on a sidewalk bench…waiting. . It’s amazing what one can observe, such an intricate, beautiful creature

A pleasant guy in his 60s (can’t say older anymore) shared info from his live race tracking. Riders were in Versaille, maybe 10 more minutes or so.

I decide to walk further up the road.

Finally here they come!

Ok, I missed Vanagaard who caught me Off guard. There was no warning at this spot!! No official or unofficial commentator.

The ACTION

There they go…it took a matter of seconds really.

Not showing much here but love these old town buildings. Cyclists of all sizes and ages charged along the route after the cyclists had passed by.

And the walk back after picking up a curried chicken baguette sandwich…they take me back many decades! Followed a somewhat less secluded route as it was getting on in the day.

Along the Seine

And into, up and across Parc St Cloud

Ponds and urns abound…and statues.

So this is not just a Quebec thing. Is it sinking???
One of 15 Black pine trees in Parc St Cloud (origin: the Balkins)

And finally on corner just outside park near my place…a nifty bike pump. How handy is that?

A guy came up and asked me if it were working? I guess my puzzled look led him to that as I had no bike. 🤔

A good day.

  2. You did get Julian Alaphillipe and Tadjei Pogacar if I see them properly. I hope you got a tshirt or maybe there weren’t any left. By the way, the place you’re staying is lovely and so typically French. The food is making me virtually hungry. Enjoy Kerry. Marg
